February Meeting

The next Rock Hill Striders meeting will be held on February 4, 2012. It is going to be at Kings Mountain State Park. We will run the trails before hand and have lunch and a short meeting after the run. We will meet at Picnic Shelter #1. It has a fire pit and picnic tables and it close to the bathrooms that are open this time of year. The park opens at 8 am and we will start the run at 8:30. Different groups will be going various distances and paces. The Striders will provide a sandwich tray for lunch. Don’t forget that there is a $3 fee per person to use the park. 2012 Membership Drive

2012 is right around the corner. Now is the time to renew or start your membership with the Rock Hill Striders. Dues have increased slightly for the first time in a long time. Rock Hill Striders Take Kiawah by Storm!!!!!!!

The Rock Hill Striders went to Kiawah this past weekend for the Marathon and Half Marathon. They came home with some PRs and Hardware. Leading the way was David Huckaby in the Half with a PR of 1:16:26 good enough for first in his age group and 11th overall. Next was Earl Jackson with a 1:38:44 for second in his age group. Erica Joefreda and Mary Ann Kennedy both set PRs in the half with a 1:47:37 and 1:51:53 respectively. In the marathon, Scott Kennedy set a new PR of 2:51:08 for third in his age group and 15th overall. Terri Marshall continued her great 2011 with at 3:35:06 for second in her age group. Don Rice continues to impress also with a 3:35:17 and second in his age group.  Congratulations to everyone.

Ring in 2012 12K and 5K Trail Races

The Rock Hill Striders will again be hosting the Ring in 2012 Trail Races again on January 1, 2012, at the ASC Greenway.  This year the course will be a 12K and will start at the Bruce Rush Pavilion.  See the attached entry form for more information.  Ring in 2012 12K & 5K Trail Run Application.

2011 Pumpkin Run – Rock Hill, SC

The Annual Pumpkin Run is back this year. Same course as the previous years. We are looking forward to getting this race back on its feet and have a great turnout. Please find the attached Registration Form.  2011 Pumpkin Run Application[1]

DuPont Waterfall Bonanza – August 20, 2011

Upcoming Trail Race

The Humane Society of York County, SC is having its DogGone Good Time Festival on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at the Anne Springs Close Greenway, Rush Pavilion, from 8am to 11:00am. This family and dog friendly event features a 5K trail run, dog walk, individual and team fundraising, tennis ball raffle, dog games, vendors, and much more.

5K Trail Run. Starts at 8:00am. Check-in and registration begins at 7:00am. Pre-registration $25 and event day registration $30. Event day registration will close at 7:45am. The entry fee includes an event t-shirt and refreshments. (Unfortunately we can not guarantee a t-shirt for event day registration. They will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis)

Awards will be given to the following
Top male and female finishers receive overall awards
Top three finishers in each age division
19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 and up
5K Trail Run award announcements will be made around 9:25am, prior to the start of the Dog Walk.
